Each of the six finalist groups had to research 100 hectares of the largest forest in the world in 24 hours.
The goal was to show the usefulness of the devices and technologies they invented to help preserve the environment.
Drones with bioacoustic sensors, robots and artificial intelligence were some of the tools used.
The six finalist groups, three of them, will share a prize of US$ 10 million dollars.
The money will be used to improve the technology they developed during the five years of competition.
This is an initiative of the Alana Institute, a non-profit social organization.
Scientists from 70 countries participated in the competition.
The Amazon was the last stage of the tournament.
