ACRE, BRAZIL - A green anaconda was captured after killing a duck in a flooded area near a residence in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, in the interior of Acre, this Saturday (22), in the Miritizal neighborhood, in the Second District.
The resident spotted the snake next to the animal that was part of his breeding and called the Fire Department.
The species is not venomous, but is known for the muscular strength it uses to kill its prey, which it digests immediately after the attack.
The firefighters did not provide an estimate of the animal's size, but the green anaconda can reach three meters (males) to six meters (females).
After being captured, it was taken safely to a forested area.
The green anaconda is the largest snake in the Brazilian fauna.
Although it is not venomous, it has great muscular strength and is capable of capturing medium-sized prey by constriction, generally in areas close to rivers and streams.
