MANAUS-AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - Two drug traffickers died after the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) shot down an aircraft that illegally entered Brazilian airspace, coming from Venezuela.
There is no confirmation about the identity or nationality of the dead suspects.
The prefix or registration of the plane were not released.
The operation to intercept the illegal aircraft took place on Tuesday (11), in the interior of Amazonas.
The FAB reported that, when it observed the unidentified plane entering the airspace, it adopted all procedures to force a landing without having to shoot at the fuselage.
With no response, the military followed the air policing protocols, applying measures of investigation, intervention and persuasion.
In the absence of response, the Detention Shot (TDE) was carried out, which led to the crash of the aircraft in a forested area.
On Wednesday (12), with the support of the Federal Police, the presence of drug cargo in the aircraft was verified and two drug traffickers were killed.
The verification occurred after an H-60 Black Hawk helicopter, from the Seventh Squadron of the Eighth Aviation Group (7º/8º GAV - Esquadrão Hárpia), based in Manaus, was sent to the crash site to investigate the incident, which is still under investigation.
