A team from the Military Fire Department removed wild animals from an area of vegetation devastated by fire in Amapá.
The fire occurred on the side of the AP-010 highway in the district of Anauerapucu in the municipality of Santana in the state of Amapá on the afternoon of this Thursday (21).
According to the Fire Department, an anteater and a capybara were rescued from the devastated area.
The animals were at risk of death from burns or smoke poisoning, said the Fire Department.
The images show the burn marks and blood on the animals' paws up close.
The animals were sent to the Wildlife Triage Center (Cetas) of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) for the necessary care.
The state of Ampá is going through a period of drought and fires in vegetation areas are increasingly frequent.
