AMAZONAS, BRAZIL — Nighttime images captured by a drone show the city of Itacoatiara, in the interior of Amazonas state, covered by smoke from wildfires reported in the region.

The smoke is also contributing to worsening air quality in municipalities in the Manaus metropolitan area. In Itacoatiara, a wildfire in the Lago do Canaçari region reached its 19th day on Wednesday (8).
