More than 11,500 people are homeless and displaced, according to the latest update on Tuesday (27). Seventeen cities in Acre are in a state of emergency due to overflowing rivers and streams. At least 23 indigenous communities in the interior of Acre are also suffering from the effects of the floods. The decree recognising the situation was published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU) on Sunday (25). The measure was also published in an extra edition of the Official State Gazette (DOE). Among the most critical cities is Jordão, in the interior of the state. The town hall declared a disaster after 80 per cent of the urban area was flooded.
