The American dredging ship Hopper Lindway was authorized to dredge the Amazon River amid the historic drought that the state is facing during this period.
According to the Federal Revenue Service, the Customs Office of the Port of Manaus quickly completed the customs clearance of the dredging ship that docked in Manaus, coming from the United States.
The Amazon River reached 32 centimeters in the municipality of Itacoatiara, in Amazonas.
On October 4, the water level dried up 9 centimeters, and the river is already experiencing the worst drought in the city in 26 years of measurements.
The Hopper Lindway will be responsible for dredging critical points in the Amazon River, between the mouth of the Madeira River and the Costa do Tabocal, in Itacoatiara.
The goal will be to improve navigation and ensure the continuous flow of supplies to the Manaus Free Trade Zone and other regions in the interior of Amazonas during the dry season.
According to the Federal Revenue Service, the rapid release of the vessel will enable the immediate start of work, meeting urgent infrastructure and cargo transportation needs.
