Amazonas broke a record in the number of imports, until November 2024, with US$ 14.9 billion registered, according to data from the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti).
The amount exceeds the total of US$ 12.6 billion from the previous year.
Also according to the agency, the forecast is that the state will reach US$ 16 billion by the end of the year, making this the best result in the last seven years.
The secretariat highlights that the performance reflects the strength of the regional economy, driven by the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM).
In recent years, Amazonas has been demonstrating progress in foreign trade.
In 2022, the state imported US$14.1 billion, followed by US$13.2 billion in 2021, US$9.7 billion in 2020 and US$10.1 billion in 2019.
In addition, exports from Amazonas are also showing growth.
Up to November of this year, US$909.6 million in exports were recorded, with projections to close the year higher compared to 2023, which totaled US$922.6 million.
Since 2019, when exports reached US$731 million, Amazonas has been expanding its presence in the international market.
