The International Organization for Migration (IOM), an agency of the United Nations (UN), resumed assisting Venezuelan migrants on Monday (3) in Boa Vista after a week without offering services.
The organization had stopped operating after US President Donald Trump cut funding for humanitarian aid.
The IOM is resuming its work at posts in the city of Boa Vista and on the border.
In a statement to the Brazilian government, the organization said it had obtained resources to replace those from the US to resume its work in support of Operation Acolhida, a federal government task force that assists migrants arriving in the country through Roraima.
Last week, the IOM suspended its work with migrants because the Trump administration suspended US funds for humanitarian aid outside the country for 90 days.
The agency received financial support from the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
IOM provides guidance and specialized assistance to people in vulnerable situations and referrals to essential services, such as health, social assistance and support for labor rights.
In addition, support is provided in issuing documentation.
IOM is present in Boa Vista and Pacaraima, on the border, where it assisted migrants in the shelters of Operation Acolhida.
