PARÁ, BRAZIL - A passenger speedboat was fully consumed by flames on Tuesday morning (15) on the Tapajós River in Santarém, western Pará, Brazil.
The vessel was undergoing structural maintenance when the fire broke out. Authorities suspect that welding activities carried out during the repairs may have ignited the blaze.
Emergency services, including ambulances and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene.
Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported.
The boat’s owner, visibly shaken by the loss, required medical attention at the site.
According to the fire department, the immediate concern was preventing an explosion, as the area contained large quantities of fuel and other flammable substances.
