MANAUS, BRAZIL — An unusual incident occurred amid heavy rainfall in the interior of Brazil’s Amazonas state, where an alligator was spotted outside the gate of a residence in the municipality of Lábrea, apparently seeking shelter.

The Amazonas State Fire Department was called to rescue the animal and return it to its natural habitat, but crews were unable to locate it.

According to residents, the alligator did not enter the house but caused considerable alarm.
