PARINTINS, BRAZIL – Garantido portrayed Parintins as a land of enchantment, ancestry and diversity. The performance brought together elements of Amazonian spirituality and traditions that have shaped the island's history.
The narrative emphasized the unity of different peoples and bodies of knowledge, promoting the harmonious relationship between culture, nature and Amazonian identity.
Among the performance's highlights were the debut of sinhazinha da fazenda Raíra Lins, the appearance of cunhã-poranga Isabelle Nogueira emerging from the float "Parintintin: The People Who Came From the Sky," and the participation of rainha do folclore Lívia Cristina.
The red ox also paid tribute to Amazonian women through the float "Mothers of the Forest," honoring the roles of traditional healers, midwives, artisans and other guardians of the region's traditional knowledge.
Closing the evening, Garantido presented the Indigenous Ritual "Dream of Ipají," inspired by the ancestral wisdom of the Parintintin people and the relationship between dreams, spirituality and Indigenous knowledge.
Caprichoso and Garantido return to the arena on Saturday (June 27) for the second night of performances. The rival teams continue competing for the title of the 59th Parintins Folk Festival, which will be decided after the third and final night of presentations.
