The level of the River Acre reached 17.28 metres in the Acre capital at 9am this morning. The highest level ever recorded was 18.40 metres in 2015. The state faces a historic flood in 2024. At least 23,087 people are homeless and displaced, according to the latest update on Friday (01). Seventeen cities in Acre are in an emergency situation. At least 23 indigenous communities are suffering from the effects of flooding rivers and overflowing streams. So far, four people have died as a result of the flooding. In the city of Brasiléia, in the interior of the state, the river level is showing signs of receding, but it is still more than 1 metre above the municipality's overflow level, which is 11.40 metres. In Epitaciolândia, the river level is the same as in Brasiléia, at 12.40 metres. In the city of Xapuri, the river was 17.02 metres at 6am on Friday, more than three metres above the overflow level of 13.40 metres. In the cities mentioned there are shelters set up by the town hall and the state government to help people who are homeless or displaced. According to data from the Management and Operational Centre of the Amazon Protection System (Censipam), there is a possibility of large volumes of rain throughout the state this Friday (1).
