The objective of Ibama's operation is to curb deforestation by monitoring the chain that produces or sells cattle from illegally deforested areas.
During the investigations, 69 rural properties were identified that raised and sold approximately 18,000 head of cattle, in 26,000 hectares of areas embargoed for illegal deforestation.
In addition, Ibama's inspection identified 23 meatpacking plants that purchased these animals, becoming environmental offenders.
The owners of the properties were fined for breaching the embargo, preventing natural regeneration, and selling products from embargoed areas.
The operation took place in twelve municipalities in the state of Pará and two in Amazonas.
