AMAZONAS, BRAZIL — A man, whose identity was not disclosed, became stuck at the top of a 40-meter-high cell tower while attempting to steal copper cables.
The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday (23) in the West Zone of Manaus.
According to the Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM), the Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) responded after receiving reports of the criminal activity.
Firefighters stated that the man had removed several cables in an attempt to extract copper for illegal sale, but was unable to climb down from the structure.
The rescue team used a “rescue triangle” — a device secured to the victim's body and attached to a rope — to safely lower him to the ground.
The man was rescued without injuries.
Upon reaching the ground, he was taken into custody and transported to the 8th Integrated Police District (DIP), where he gave a statement.
