A four-meter-long snake was rescued by the Fire Department this Sunday (26), in the Planalto neighborhood, east of Porto Velho.
The snake was found by residents, who were frightened and called the fire department and recorded the capture of the animal.
A resident reported that the snake came from a vacant lot near the place where it was rescued.
According to her, this is not the first time that a snake has been found in the area, but this one caught people's attention because of its size.
The firefighters carried out the rescue and then returned the snake to its natural habitat.
A biologist explained that the rescued anaconda can reach six meters in length and weigh more than 200 kilos.
He also stated that, given the size of the snake, it is a young animal, almost adult.
According to the expert, the main reason for the presence of anacondas in urban areas is the search for food, especially medium-sized mammals and birds.
