The snake was found last weekend in a burned area in side three of the Ajarani Settlement Project. According to the couple who found it, the snake was already dead and with no signs of injury near the land where they live. The Tropical Medicine Foundation says it is difficult to determine the cause of the animal's death without a veterinary report, but many situations could have led to its death, such as conflicts with humans, fires, injuries when trying to feed on a certain animal, age or even illnesses. According to the agency, when adults, anacondas are large animals, measuring an average of 4 to 6 meters and can live for 10 to 15 years in the wild, and some even live up to 20 years. The size ends up requiring this snake to have a slightly more risky and larger selection of prey. One of the largest in the world, the species is not poisonous, but defends itself from possible threats by biting or diving into the water. Generally, the anaconda inhabits semi-aquatic environments, such as rivers and lakes in the Amazon, and is most active during the night and twilight hours, avoiding the heat of the day. The green anaconda's menu includes small and medium-sized mammals that tend to stay close to water, such as capybaras, tapirs and deer, birds, lizards and alligators. To kill prey, it uses a "strangulation" strategy.
