Five Indians were arrested by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) trying to enter Brazil illegally via the country's border with Guyana, in Roraima. The action took place on Thursday (4) in the municipality of Cantá, in the north of the state. A Brazilian man suspected of making the crossing fled the approach. According to the PRF, agents were policing the region when they spotted a car travelling at high speed on the BR-401. They asked the vehicle to stop, but the driver disobeyed their order and fled. The car was followed and, during the escape, entered a dirt road near the motorway. The vehicle stopped there and the occupants tried to flee on foot through a wooded area, but were caught. The PRF identified that they had no record of entering the country. They entered through the Brazilian border with Guyana, in the municipality of Bonfim, and had the help of a Brazilian who was transporting the group to the capital Boa Vista at the time of the police approach. The immigrants were arrested and taken to the Federal Police headquarters for the appropriate measures.
