MANAUS-AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - Two helicopters and a single-engine fixed-wing aircraft used by drug trafficking were destroyed by the Federal Police during an operation in the municipality of Careiro, in Amazonas.
The operation, carried out between Monday (3) and Wednesday (5), also resulted in the identification of three clandestine landing strips, used for organized crime operations.
The agents destroyed approximately 4 thousand liters of illegal aviation fuel, which would be used by drug traffickers, and arrested one of the helicopter pilots in flagrante delicto.
The suspect was transporting 250 kilos of drugs from Peru, in addition to a 5.56 caliber rifle and a restricted pistol.
The operation had the support of the Brazilian Air Force, the Army and the Special Operations Company (COE).
The action is part of the ongoing work of the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO/AM) in combating drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the state.
According to the PF, the prisoner was presented to the Federal Court of Amazonas, which will take the appropriate measures.
