PORTO VELHO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) said that investigators from the Seventh Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA VII) have been deployed to investigate an incident involving a twin-engine aircraft that caught fire after making an emergency landing near the district of Extrema, in Porto Velho, Rondônia, on Saturday (20).

In addition to the pilot and co-pilot, the aircraft was carrying lawmakers and aides, although the total number of people on board was not disclosed. Passengers reported that no one was injured.

According to those on board, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure during the flight, forcing the pilot to perform an emergency landing. Technical details regarding the malfunction that caused the loss of aircraft operation have not yet been released.

The aircraft is a turboprop twin-engine plane manufactured in 2009, a Hawker Beechcraft model. Registered under tail number PS-GAC, the aircraft is not authorized for commercial operations.
