BELÉM, BRAZIL - Several boats crossed the Guajará Bay on Wednesday morning (12), in front of the city of Belém, heading to the People’s Summit, a parallel event to COP30.
The gathering brings together representatives from municipalities, states, and countries to denounce false climate solutions and declare that the path to a sustainable world lies with the peoples of the waters, forests, and peripheries—communities that resist through collective, agroecological, and ancestral practices.
The movements and organizations of the People’s Summit have joined forces to make their voices echo across the waters, denouncing COP decisions that, according to them, uphold the same exploitative model of territorial use.
The People’s Summit brings together more than 1,200 movements, organizations, and networks from Brazil and abroad.
