AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - The vessel that departed from Manaus on Tuesday (4), carrying members of the Banzeiro of Hope expedition, continues its journey along the Amazon River toward Belém, the host city of the UN Conference.
About 230 people are on board, including crew and passengers. The boat has been adapted to accommodate the expedition’s activities, featuring a reception area, cabins, an auditorium, meeting and recording rooms, a restaurant, restrooms, and internet access.
The round of discussions on climate change in the Amazon is ongoing. Friday’s (7) agenda began with a panel on the history of the global environmental and climate agenda.
Speakers include scientists, extractivist workers, Indigenous leaders, and quilombola representatives seeking solutions for the Amazon region.
The Banzeiro of Hope is expected to arrive in Belém early Saturday morning (8). The goal is to gather local experiences and submit a petition to COP30.
