A dense cloud of smoke has been covering Manaus since Monday (26).
The weather forecast says that an air mass from the south of the country brought the smoke to the metropolitan region.
The deputy fire chief who is working on the fires in the south of the state commented.
"This smoke is coming from the southwest of Amazonas, from those states in the southwest, as well as from Bolivia," said Colonel Reinaldo de Menezes, Deputy General Commander of the Amazonas Military Fire Department.
"We observed on the fire panel and on another platform that the region is where the largest number of hot spots are concentrated," explained the colonel.
"So, that's where the biggest fires are concentrated, and as a result, the amount of smoke produced there is being carried by the winds to the Amazon, reaching Manaus," explained Menezes.
"The smoke is making visibility difficult. Navigation on the rivers is complicated and the air quality, which was good until three days ago, is now bad," concluded Colonel Reinaldo de Menezes, Deputy General Commander of the Amazonas Fire Department.
