Residents of the Catalão community, located in the municipality of Iranduba, in the metropolitan region of Manaus, are struggling with a lack of supplies and drinking water due to the drought on the Negro and Solimões rivers in Amazonas. The river dwellers live in floating houses, many of which are stranded due to the low water levels. Small boats transport food and water in jugs to the community. But the residents also have to walk where the river has dried up to reach their homes.
