MANAUS-AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - The Federal Police (PF) carried out Operation Murus Viridis on Friday (11), which combats illegal mining activity inside the Campos Amazônicos National Park.
The fully protected conservation unit is located between the states of Amazonas, Rondônia and Mato Grosso.
The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMbio) and the National Public Security Force participated in the activities.
The operation aimed to remove the structures used for illegal mining, with a focus on environmental preservation and qualified repression of crimes against the environment.
According to the PF, several vehicles, machinery, equipment and fuel were demobilized.
The work is part of a broader strategy to combat environmental crime in the Legal Amazon.
