Public security divers who were part of Operation Blind Diving, carried out on Wednesday morning (10) by the Federal Police with the support of other institutions, located a load of drugs in the hull of a ship anchored in a port in the municipality of Santana, located 17 kilometres from Macapá. During the diving operation, 154.75kg of cocaine were seized. The aim of the operation is to dismantle a criminal organisation specialising in drug trafficking, using ship hulls for storage. The practice is already being carried out in several Brazilian ports, according to the police. The PF followed up on the suspects on several days of the week during the early hours of the morning and observed that the suspects used a small boat on the Igarapé da Fortaleza and stopped at a place close to the large ship that was moored in the harbour and made dives. The investigation began after reports that criminals from the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Norte were in the capital of Amapá to dock the hull of a ship with a supposedly narcotic substance. Those investigated in the operation have criminal records for drug trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering and embezzlement in various regions of Brazil. Diving equipment and tools were found at the residence of the suspects. The material was used to accommodate the alleged drugs in the ship's hull.
