Water flour was the agricultural product with the highest price increase in 2023 in Amazonas. The 50-kilo bag reached R$383.79, according to data from a survey by Idam (Amazonas State Institute for Agricultural, Forestry and Sustainable Development), released at the end of March this year. The increase was 48 per cent compared to 2022. The 50kg bag of dry flour, which also increased, was sold for up to R$342.47, an increase of 37% compared to 2022 prices. The analysis of data collected between July and October 2023 indicated an average increase in product prices, attributed to the severe drought that affected the region and resulted in the lowest rainfall in the last 40 years. Idam's bulletin, which records the average prices of 61 agricultural, livestock, forestry and fishing products in the municipalities of Amazonas, is a reference for assessing the income of family farmers. It's worth remembering that flour is widely consumed and forms part of the Amazonian menu along with other delicacies. The product is mainly enjoyed with fish and is found in restaurants and on the tables of Amazonians.
