MANAUS - AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - Two jaguar cubs were rescued in the São João Community, in the rural area of Manicoré, in the interior of Amazonas.
They were found by riverside residents and handed over to the municipality's Department of the Environment.
The information was released this Monday (31).
The Department of the Environment of Manicoré reported that the cubs will be transferred to the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) on Wednesday (2).
According to the department, the cubs are in good condition and will receive the necessary care to ensure their safety and well-being.
Residents of the community reported that the cubs' mother was not found in the region, which reinforced the importance of the rescue for the animals' survival.
The cubs have already been given names: the male was named "Coré" and the female, "Mani", in reference to the name of the municipality.
