The 2022/2023 corn crop in Brazil is expected to exceed 125 million tonnes, according to the National Supply Company (Conab).
The grain has three annual harvests in Brazil, the only major producing country with this capacity. Understand the planting and harvesting period in each season:
the first, usually the most productive and profitable, begins planting, in most places, from September to December and harvests from February to June;
the second starts planting in the Centre-West from January to March and harvests between May and September. In the other regions, planting takes place between January and July, and harvest takes place between May and December;
the third (safrinha/winter crop) starts planting from April to June. Harvest runs from August to November, and is most common in Bahia, Roraima, Sergipe, Alagoas and Pernambuco.
In the state of Roraima, in the northern region of Brazil, only São Luiz did not grow corn, and the planted area of the grain was distributed in 14 municipalities, with a growth of 4.95%, totalling more than 14 thousand hectares. The prolonged rainy season in the state delayed the grain harvesting process, which is being completed with an estimated 94,000 tonnes.
