The Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, accompanied by Minister Marina Silva, of the Environment, and other municipal authorities were in Rio Branco yesterday, together with the state government, to draw up plans for work in the cities affected by the flooding of the rivers in the state. At a press conference, Góes said that all the emergency plans had been submitted and approved. "We have a team here advising the municipalities. We're sending another team specialising in reconstruction plans, and this will be a big challenge because it requires engineering calculations. And then we can't have too many steps because that will delay the reconstruction. We have a re-establishment plan that already involves cleaning and clearing. We have to be united to assist the people who are suffering," said Waldez Góes. The minister commented on the natural phenomena occurring in the country. "It's important that we realise that these events will be more frequent and more intense. We have to act in emergencies, in mitigation, in adaptation, in prevention, because this is the challenge of dealing with extreme events that Brazil didn't have the culture to face. But we are facing them and that is the challenge," said Waldez Góes, Minister of Integration and Regional Development.
