AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – A mother and her young son were rescued by residents after falling into an unmarked hole in a public square in the southern zone of Manaus on Tuesday 20th.
According to witnesses, the child fell first. Seeing what had happened, the mother jumped in to try to save him. The opening, more than two meters deep, was located in a grassy area and had no visible signage or barriers warning of the danger.
Footage captured by a local resident shows the child being pulled out first. Moments later, a man reaches into the hole, extends his arm to the mother, and—supported by others—pulls her out by the arms.
Both victims were unharmed and are in good condition, according to residents who assisted in the rescue.
The municipal department responsible for the site’s infrastructure has not yet commented on the incident.
