With the main access to the city closed due to the flooding in the region, it was necessary to use canoes for transport to ensure that people could get to and from their homes. The Brasiléia Kidney Clinic is the reference unit for three other municipalities in the Alto Acre region, namely: Assis Brasil, Epitaciolândia and Xapuri. According to the region's Regional Health Coordination, it would not be feasible to send patients to the capital. This could cause overcrowding in Rio Branco, and haemodialysis is something that is scheduled. Even with the flooding, it was possible to transport the patients. On Sunday night (25), Brasiléia city hall announced that the bridge that borders Bolivia and Peru had been closed due to the rise in the river. Of the 11 neighbourhoods, 9 are flooded. There are also isolation points in rural areas. There are 1,540 homeless people and 1,256 displaced people. Twelve shelters have been set up to receive those in need. 138 indigenous adults and children are in these shelters.
