A Cessna Skylane 182 aircraft crashed after take-off in the municipality of Manoel Urbano, in the interior of Acre, last Monday morning (18). The aircraft had the capacity to carry a maximum of four people. However, six passengers and the pilot were inside the aircraft at the time of the crash, according to the Manoel Urbano town hall. In addition, the Cessna, which was on its way to Santa Rosa do Purus, 150 km from where it took off, was not authorised to operate as an air taxi. Sidney Estuardo Hoyle Vega, 73, a Peruvian businessman, died in the accident. Six other people were injured, two of whom were intubated. Suani Camelo, 30, who is intubated and in serious condition, had to be transferred by helicopter to the Lourenço Vasconcelos Hospital and Emergency Room in the capital Rio Branco. The Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB) of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) shows that the plane, registered as 'PTJUN', was registered for private air service, but could not be used as an air taxi as its Airworthiness Verification Certificate (CVA) had expired since 1 June 2019.
