AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - A tourist speedboat caught fire on Friday afternoon (12) while refueling at a fuel station in Nhamundá, a riverside town in the interior of Brazil’s Amazonas state. Despite the scare, no injuries were reported.

According to the local government, ten people were on board at the time of the incident. All were sport fishing tourists heading toward the Alto Nhamundá region.

The company responsible for the vessel said the guests were taken to a hotel and later chose to continue with their planned itinerary. The company also emphasized that the boat was equipped with modern safety systems.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

This is the second similar incident in the region within weeks. On September 4, another tourist boat caught fire at the Brutos da Amazônia lodge in Barcelos. Two tourists from São Paulo were injured. A video captured the moment the vessel was engulfed in flames.
