The civil and military police of Amazonas seized on Saturday (13/07), 600 logs of illegal wood in the Purus River, in the interior of the state.
The cargo was located in the rural area of the municipality of Beruri and was being transported by river to Manaus.
The two police arrived at the location after reports about possible illegal transport of wood from species such as massaranduba and rubber trees.
The trunks were tied to structures like rafts pulled by a vessel driven by three men.
After the seizure, the wood was towed to the vicinity of a community.
The offenders went to the police station to draw up a Circumstantial Occurrence Term (TCO) for illegal transport of wood.
Investigations showed that the wood was extracted from a reserve in the municipality at the beginning of the year.
The seized wood was donated to non-profit organizations, as required by law, and the vessel and instruments used in the crime were seized.
