AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - An alligator was spotted attempting to cross Djalma Batista Avenue, located in the Central-South Zone of Manaus, in the early hours of Friday (June 27).
The video was recorded by a pedestrian passing through the area.
The footage shows the animal in the middle of the avenue, which is one of the city's busiest roads.
The alligator appeared to be trying to cross near a small stream (known locally as an igarapé) that runs alongside the road.
The person who filmed the scene also narrated the unusual moment with a touch of humor.
“This little gator here is out for a stroll on Djalma Batista. Looks like he took a break from Parintins. He’s just chilling, about to cross to the other side,” the narrator joked.
Moments later, several cars drove by, scaring the animal back onto the sidewalk.
No information on whether the animal was rescued or returned to the stream.
