The state of Amazonas has recorded more than 2,823 cases of dengue fever, according to the Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation (FVS-AM). The data was published in the epidemiological bulletin released on Thursday (14). The number of cases includes records from 1st January until this Thursday. The number of deaths under investigation for the disease remains at 7, according to the Ministry of Health, which monitors the disease in Brazil. According to the Health Surveillance Foundation, the cases occurred in Manaus, Labrea, Coari, São Gabriel da Cachoeira and Codajás. In the capital alone, there are three deaths under investigation, the last of which was included in the Ministry of Health's investigation records at the end of February. In the interior of the state, four suspected deaths have already been recorded. However, the agencies' technical analyses need to be finalised for the cause of death to be made official. With more than 2,000 cases, Amazonas also recognises an outbreak of Oropouche Fever. According to the FVS, cases are confirmed by laboratory or clinical-epidemiological criteria. The data can be found in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) and in the Laboratory Environment Manager (GAL). The disease is caused by the insect called Maruim, which in the language of traditional peoples means small fly.
