An anaconda was found this Sunday (17), in the backyard of a house in the Areal neighborhood, in Porto Velho.
When the family noticed the snake, they were concerned about the safety of their children and pets and called biologist Marcos Fernandes, who is responsible for the volunteer project “Biologist in Action”.
The anaconda measuring approximately 4.5 meters was basking in the sun when it was spotted by residents
Through the images, it is possible to see the moment when the biologist rescued the snake.
The biologist, who specializes in snakes, reported that he is often called by the population to perform these services.
According to Fernandes, the Amazon winter period favors the appearance of large snakes in urban areas, which are looking for food.
While carrying out the rescue, the biologist took the opportunity to educate residents about the importance of snakes in environmental balance.
According to him, snakes control populations of small mammals and play an important role in the ecosystem.
The rescued anaconda was evaluated and showed no injuries.
According to the biologist, after the rescue, the anaconda was returned to a forest area far from the urban area, where it will be able to live in safety.
