AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - The Banzeiro da Esperança expedition, which is traveling through the state of Amazonas toward Belém for the UN Climate Conference (COP30), made a stop in Parintins on Wednesday afternoon (5).
The delegation was welcomed with a special performance by the bois-bumbás Caprichoso and Garantido, who presented a manifesto in defense of the preservation of the rainforest.
The event brought together members of the expedition, who gathered at the city’s Cultural Center to witness the symbols that embody the Parintins Festival.
The performance marked the first cultural highlight of the journey, which brings together community leaders, civil society organizations, and representatives of social movements.
The expedition continues with a schedule that includes discussion circles, workshops, and debates on climate justice and sustainable development in the Amazon.
The stop in Parintins is one of several stages along the route to the UN Conference in Belém.
