A vessel with passengers sank near the Benjamin Constant Community, 40 minutes from Novo Remanso, in the interior of Amazonas in the early hours of Sunday (23).
The boat was coming from the municipality of Borba, 151 kilometers from Manaus, towards the capital of Amazonas.
According to witnesses, the vessel sank after the vessel's hydraulic rudder and pump developed defects.
Despite the accident, the boat driver managed to steady himself on the bank and pulled over close to the Benjamin Constant Community, where he received help from riverside dwellers at the scene.
Many passengers were on the vessel, however, there were no deaths reported, only material damage.
