In recent months, several operations against organized crime have been carried out in Orgulho do Madeira, a residential area located in the East Zone of Porto Velho, the capital of Rondônia.
In one of the actions, one of the leaders of Comando Vermelho was killed.
On Sunday (12), Military Police corporal Fábio Martins died with six shots to the head inside the Orgulho do Madeira residential area, where he lived.
The police claim that the murder was in retaliation for the police actions.
The suspects also tried to blow up a security totem installed at the location.
The death of the officer triggered another major operation in Orgulho do Madeira, which began on Monday (13).
There were arrests and one person was killed in a confrontation. The police did not reveal the identity of the person who died.
Soon after the police entered the residential area, attacks on the buses began.
At least 13 school buses were set on fire during criminal attacks in the districts of Jaci-Paraná and União Bandeirantes, in Porto Velho.
In addition, six other vehicles belonging to a private company were also destroyed by fire in the Aeroclube neighborhood.
Criminals intensified the wave of attacks on buses in Rondônia during the early hours of Wednesday (15), even after the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) sent support from the National Force.
Since Monday (13), 26 buses have been set on fire in Rondônia, most of them in Porto Velho.
