On Sunday (6) there were municipal elections throughout Brazil.
The population went to the polls to elect mayors and councilors for the next four years.
In three capitals of the Brazilian Amazon, the current mayors were reelected to office.
In two others there will be a second round of voting, with the two candidates with the most votes.
This is the case of the city of Manaus in Amazonas.
Candidate David Almeida (Avante), who is seeking reelection, will face Captain Alberto Neto (PL), a candidate who had a significant number of votes in this first round.
David Almeida obtained 32.16% of the votes, while Alberto Neto reached 24.94%.
In just over an hour of counting the votes, the capital Porto Velho, in Rondônia, learned which candidates will go to the second round in this election.
Mariana Carvalho (União Brasil), who received 44.53% of the votes, and candidate Léo (Podemos), who received 25.65%, will be the opponents for the Porto Velho City Hall.
Voters will return to the polls on October 27 for the second round of voting in these two cities mentioned above.
In the cities of Boa Vista-Roraima, Macapá-Amapá and Rio Branco-Acre, the population reelected the current mayors for another four-year term.
In Boa Vista, candidate Arthur Henrique (MDB) was reelected with 75.18% of the votes to lead the capital of Roraima for another four years.
The city of Macapá, in Amapá, reelected candidate Dr. Furlan (MDB) for a term as mayor of the capital.
Furlan received 85.08% of the votes, the highest percentage among capitals in all of Brazil.
And with 54.82% of the votes, Tião Bocalom (PL) was reelected Mayor of Rio Branco, in Acre.
