A large fire destroyed at least 13 houses and frightened residents of the municipality of Nhamundá, in the interior of Amazonas, in the early hours of this Monday (15).
In the incident, a child died and four people were injured.
According to Nhamundá City Hall, an overload of electricity in a socket would have started the fire in a residence located in Cachoeirinha, in the city center.
The flames would have started around 4am.
Residents of the region tried to contain the flames on their own until firefighters arrived.
A six-year-old child did not survive the incident and died.
The four injured people were taken to the municipal health unit.
The location where the fire occurred has several stilt houses, which facilitated the spread of the flames to the other affected houses.
The Municipal Social Assistance estimates that at least 47 people were affected.
