Some streets in the municipality of Boca do Acre, located in the south of Amazonas, have been taken over by floodwaters from the Acre and Purus rivers. Even the Artur Leite stadium was affected by the floods. The city had already declared an emergency last Friday (8). The flooding of the two rivers mentioned above has affected more than 15,000 people in the region, according to Civil Defence. The level of the rivers reached 20.20 metres on Tuesday (12), exceeding the overflow level by 1.45 metres. In rural areas alone, 101 communities have been affected by the flooding. In the urban area, the Praia do Gado neighbourhood is the hardest hit, with 4,319 people affected.
