MANAUS, BRAZIL — Eleven people, including six military police officers, were arrested Thursday (26) in the Amazonas state capital with about three tons of drugs. The suspects and the seized shipment were taken to the Departamento de Repressão ao Crime Organizado (Organized Crime Repression Department), where the case will be investigated.
In a statement, the Polícia Militar do Estado do Amazonas said it does not tolerate misconduct by its members and that those involved will be held accountable under due legal process in both administrative and criminal spheres. The force reiterated its commitment to legality, discipline and transparency.
In less than a week, 10 military police officers have been arrested in separate cases in Amazonas state.
