An intercity bus from Empresa Transacreana, which travels between Rio Branco and Assis Brasil, in the interior of Acre, caught fire at km 26 of BR-317 on Thursday afternoon (18).
Only the driver was in the vehicle, who was not injured, but was quite shaken by the fire.
According to the company's operations management, the vehicle left Rio Branco on Wednesday (17) with passengers for Assis Brasil.
He spent the night in the city and would return to the capital with other passengers this Thursday morning.
However, the driver noticed that the air conditioning was not working and asked for the vehicle to be replaced on the trip.
The municipality's mechanical team carried out a brief assessment of the bus and advised the driver to return to the capital for more complete maintenance.
Images recorded by people passing by on the road at the time of the fire show the vehicle engulfed in flames.
