MANAUS-AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - A speedboat used to transport passengers was completely destroyed after a fire in the port of the municipality of Anori, in the interior of Amazonas, on the morning of this Wednesday (9).
The company responsible for the vessel reported that the fire started while it was refueling at a floating fuel station.
The images show high flames and thick black smoke coming out of the speedboat.
At the time of the fire, the crew was outside the speedboat and there were no passengers. There were no reports of injuries.
Despite its intensity, the fire did not reach the fuel pumps at the floating fuel station and was controlled after volunteers were mobilized.
The Brazilian Navy reports that it has learned about a fire on a vessel in the city of Anori-AM.
The Capitania Fluvial da Amazônia Ocidental (CFAOC) - Western Amazon River Authority - sent teams to investigate the incident at the site and will open an Inquiry into Navigation Accidents and Facts to investigate the causes, circumstances and potential perpetrators.
