The accident happened in the early hours of Saturday (27).
So far, one death has been confirmed by the state government.
A total of 59 people were rescued throughout the morning, but there are still missing people.
There is no information about the total number of passengers and crew on the boat.
The vessel "Comandante Souza III" had left a port in Manaus and was heading to the municipality of Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, in the interior of the state.
The fire started near the Santa Maria Community, located 40 minutes from the capital of Amazonas.
According to witnesses, the flames spread quickly, which caused the machinery to stop working.
The lights went out and the entire vessel was in complete darkness.
The passengers, unaware of what was happening, ended up panicking.
To save themselves, people ended up jumping into the river.
The Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM), the Amazonas Military Police (PMAM) and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) rescued the victims.
According to the State Health Department (SES-AM), 25 people were taken to health units in Manaus.
Including men, women and children.
Some of these people have already been discharged.
Others remain under observation due to their injuries.
Also according to SES-AM, the elderly woman, identified as Flora de Oliveira Olar, 76, was rescued and taken to a health unit.
However, the victim did not survive her injuries and died before reaching the hospital.
