One of the most appreciated fish with an unrivalled flavour is always present on the tables of the people of Amazonas. Grilled tambaqui accompanied by other garnishes can also be found in specialised restaurants and seaside resorts. In this video, the delicacy is accompanied by banana, lemon, baião (rice, beans and prawns), flour and vinaigrette (a mixture of tomato, onion, chilli, coriander and spring onion). Per capita consumption of fish by riverside populations is estimated at between 500 and 600 grams a day. Studies indicate a consumption in Manaus of 33.7kg per person per year.
