The São João XXIII Hospital Boat, a vessel equipped with state-of-the-art hospital infrastructure, was officially delivered on Saturday (7).
The objective is to reinforce medical care in the most remote communities in the interior of Amazonas.
The Amazonas State Department of Health (SES-AM) will be responsible for defining the routes.
The plan is to carry out two expeditions per month, each lasting seven days.
The initiative is a partnership between the Fraternidade São Francisco de Assis na Providência de Deus, authorities and institutions.
The vessel was designed to provide quality and efficient care.
In addition, it has operating rooms for various medical specialties.
There are also common areas, such as bathrooms, kitchen, cabins and administrative rooms.
The vessel will have the support of two speedboats, which will be used to transport patients.
More than 80 volunteer health professionals are expected to be on board to serve up to 200 people per day.
